INTERREG

European Territorial Cooperation is one of the goals of cohesion policy and provides a framework for the implementation of joint actions and policy exchanges between national, regional and local actors from different Member States for the period 2014-2020.

The total budget planned is:
  • €6.627 million for Cross-border cooperation
  • €1.822 million for Transnational cooperation
  • €500 million for Interregional cooperation

Main Objectives:
  • Provide an effective mechanism for sharing good practice, learning to spread know-how and ensure that a solution to a specific problem becomes more effective due to economies of scale
  • Solve transboundary problems with the cooperation of all regions concerned
  • Contribute to EU safety and stability, and mutually beneficial relationships among neighbours countries

INTERREG Programmes:

  • For cross-border cooperation: promote integrated regional development between neighbouring land and maritime border regions from two or more Member States (INTERREG V A)
  • For Transnational cooperation: cover larger transnational territories and maritime cross-border cooperation in cases not covered by cross-border cooperation, with a view to achieving a higher degree of territorial integration of those territories, thus contributing to territorial cohesion across the Union (INTERREG V B)
  • For Interregional cooperation: reinforce the effectiveness of cohesion policy by promoting exchange of experience and analysis of trends (INTERREG V C)
